Show Home Build: 2- Groundworks
Categories: Show Home Build Blog
Standard shallow foundations were the most suitable choice for our chalet bungalow.
The foundation design required calculating the building’s structural load as well as taking into consideration site factors such as soil conditions.
Trenches were dug for all exterior walls as well as any load-bearing internal walls, concrete was then poured to just below ground level.
Trench foundations are preferable to other types as they can reduce the amount of time before a project is out of the ground, which in turn reduces the overall timeframe of the build and therefore the cost. For more information, read our groundworks blog.
The company that undertook this section of the build were experienced local firm JPS Contractors who have worked on various Scandia-Hus homes.
