The Lodge – Blog 6 – Windows and Doors
Categories: Show Home Build Blog
Triple-glazed windows and doors were installed into the timber frame structure of our new bungalow show home creating a watertight shell.
The high-quality units, provided by Norrsken, are comprised of timber which is clad in a powder-coated aluminium external facing. This composite construction benefits from the warmth and thermal performance of wood along with the durability and maintenance-free finish of aluminium. Norrsken’s triple-glazed products have been designed to deliver incredible performance, and several models are suitable for Passive standard projects. With U-values as low as 0.6 W/(m²K), they are among the best performers on the market.
Triple glazing has been standard in new Swedish properties since the 1970s. Scandia-Hus have followed their lead, combining our airtight timber frame with thermally efficient triple-glazed windows and doors since our inception in 1974. This has proven to keep our customers warm and create homes that are economical to heat with low carbon footprints. We are proud of our Swedish heritage and our energy-saving designs have earned us wide acclaim, with our homes known for their quality and minimal energy consumption.
Four large sliding door units are located at the rear of the bungalow which will flood the interior with natural light, offer unrestricted views of the garden and create an indoor/outdoor feel in the main living spaces of the property. We have chosen white for the interior colour finish with an anthracite grey on the exterior for a contemporary look that suits the design of the new show home.
